Huron Wrister – Virtual Knitting Workshop
March 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$45.00
Create a piece of Huron County history from the comfort of home in this fun and social virtual knitting workshop led by guest instructor Sharlene Young-Bolen of Stitch Revival Studio. Participants will learn to knit Sharlene’s Huron Wrister pattern, which she was inspired to create from a pair of historical gloves from the textile collection of the Huron County Museum. The Huron Wristers are fingerless mitts perfect for working on computers, devices, and outdoor activities when you need your fingers free.
Registration for the workshop includes the full Huron Wrister kit, which includes 1 hank (100 grams) of off-white, undyed wool; 2 smaller hanks (20 grams each) of naturally dyed wool; plus the pattern. Needles are NOT included. For the kit, Sharlene collaborated with fibre producer Margaret Steele of Steele Wool Farm, who provided the worsted yarn, and with Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston, who dyed the yarn with colours cultivated from the FACTS gardens. All three businesses are located in the Blyth-area making the Huron Wrister 100% local!
Skill level: This workshop is recommended for Intermediate knitters.
Cost: $45+HST (includes kit)
Kit pick-up: Workshop kits can be picked up at the Museum, 110 North St., Goderich OR shipped to your home for FREE if you live in Huron County and register by Wednesday March 24 at 2 p.m.
