FREE Educational Outreach Program
May 11-15, 2020
In celebration of Museum Week and International Museum Day, the Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol is hitting the road to bring the Museum to YOU in your Huron County classroom for FREE!
Choose from two interactive, hands-on 35 minute sessions that explore how archival resources and historic objects can bring local stories from the past to life.
Recommended for grades 7-12
Access primary sources to unlock the past & the fascinating, tragic and strange stories of inmates from the Huron Historic Gaol (active 1841-1972), Huron County’s first municipal building and only designated National Historic Site. Students will be invited to match the historic crime to the real sentence, and access archival resources to creatively interpret the past in their own words.
Recommended for grades 3-6
Investigate mystery artifacts from the Huron County Museum. Try to determine what the objects are with hands-on investigations, and learn their real uses, stories and connections to the past. Explore the Huron County Museum’s wide and diverse collection of objects, and guess what in the world those objects could be!
