Dads/Male Caregivers & Kids Night
Each month includes exciting exhibit tours, artifact explorations, games, activities, parent discussions, and social time. Healthy snacks are provided to keep everyone fueled for fun! This is a great way to bond with your child and meet other caregivers in our community.
This program is made available thanks to support from the Government of Canada. Monthly registration is required, please register by the day before each event via RRHC.
September 24: Back to the One-Room School : Kids and male caregivers can compare their back-to-school experiences with the past, get interactive with historical objects from the classroom, and test their knowledge against the things 19th and 20th century kids were quizzed on! Fun even if your favourite subject is recess.
October 22: Favourite Things : From rocks to Pokemon cards, kids love to collect and so do museums! Celebrate 75 years of the collections that have made up the Huron County Museum through behind the scenes highlights. Get hands-on to learn how collectors display and care for their collections. Optional to bring something from your personal collection to show and share!
November 26: Spectacular Structures: Find out about some of the unique buildings in Huron County, and use unique building materials for a structure-building challenge! Re-create a local landmark, or create a brand new design together! All supplies provided.
*December 17: Season’s Greetings: Get cozy in the Museum Theatre to watch the original 26 minute Grinch Who Stole Christmas cartoon. Then with inspiration from beautiful and funny cards from the past, decorate a pop-up holiday card to send to a local Senior this season at our county homes.
