Film Screening: The Librarians

Film Screening: The Librarians

In honour of Freedom to Read Week, the Huron County Library & Huron County Museum are partnering for two FREE screenings of The Librarians, a new feature documentary from Academy Award nominee and Peabody Award winner Kim A. Snyder.

About the film: In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.

Screenings at 2pm and 7pm.

Pre-registration not necessary. Seating available in the museum theatre on a first-come basis.

Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom.
