Night Night: The Clothes We Sleep In

May 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Composite photograph of four white nightgowns of various styles.

From pjs to night caps, chemises to negligees, learn about the clothes we wear to bed and where the styles came from. Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston, costume designer and owner of Pick a Posie Vintage, will lead you through the history of the clothes we sleep in with fun fashion facts and examples from the Huron County Museum’s collection. Join us at the Huron County Museum to see the fashion history of nightwear up close.

Jennifer will talk about the evolution of sleepwear in the museum theatre, and then after a short break we will walk though the current exhibit Sleep In that highlights night clothing, as well as bedroom furniture from the collection. Find out why we wear what we wear to bed, and how nightwear materials and styles have changed and also moved into daywear styles!

This fashion history talk is included with regular admission to the museum (FREE with a membership or Huron County Library card). To save your seat, and you can pre-register via Eventbrite!
